International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica

International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the Genocide in

Srebrenica

In the armed conflicts between 1992 and 1995 during the disintegration of the former Republic of Yugoslavia, , at least 8,372 Bosnian Muslim civilians, including women and children, were brutally murdered in just a few days in the city of Srebrenica in Bosnia-Herzegovina, which was occupied by the Serb troops under the Serbian commander Ratko Mladic on July 11, 1995, despite the United Nations declaring it a "safe zone". This massacre, which was the largest mass murder in Europe after the World War II, was recognized as genocide by the International Court of Justice, and the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to designate July 11 as "International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica" at its session on May 23, 2024.

We wholeheartedly share the unending pain of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, once again condemn the genocide, which is a crime against all humanity as a whole, and on this occasion, we reiterate the call to stop the ongoing genocide in Palestine as soon as possible, and  commemorate the victims of the genocide.
